Every year from September 15 through October 15, NYC uplifts and celebrates the Latina/o/x community during Hispanic Heritage Month. We mark our pride and celebrate our community through parades, block parties, and outdoor festivals. This year, we at DVP want to make that celebration even louder.

What Makes You Proud?

Join our story-gathering campaign inviting Hispanic and Latina/o/x New Yorkers to share their personal cultural pride, their heritage, their community, and their culture’s contribution to the very fabric of NYC.

We’re looking for Latina/o/x-identifying New Yorkers to record a short video or audio message answering the four questions below and get featured across DVP social channels and pages:

  • What makes you proud to be Latina/o/x?
  • What word best describes your heritage?
  • How do you celebrate and maintain your culture in your community (ex: family, friends, neighborhood)?
  • What do you see as the contribution or impact your culture has had on NYC?
